Fernie Rod is currently the lead guitarist for
Jetboy. Besides being
a great guitarist he also handles some of the vocals. He's a super nice guy! I had the chance to
meet Fernie and the rest of the band back in the days of their
first U.S. tour. They were a lot of fun. Fernie was my
favorite! I had the pleasure of interviewing Fernie recently!
1. Any person (living or dead) that
you would like to meet and why?
John Lennon, I know that may be cliche but
its true, his music continues to influence me and inspire me.
I love the man and what he believed in.
2. Who are some of your favorite
musicians?
Oh man that's tuff. Lets See, Jimmy Page,
David Gilmour, Joe Perry, OMG I could go on and on. (Laughs)
3. What's your guilty musical
pleasure?
Hmmm Flamenco music! I love it and I can
never get enough of it.
4. Who did you idolize as a child?
The Beatles!!! (Laughs) I know but again
true.
5. Stranded on a deserted island, what
3 cds would you have with you?
Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt Peppers,
Aerosmith rocks
6. The difference between today's
music and the music of the 80's?
There was no pro tools back then, and we
had more hair and the songs were corny but lovable and pants
were tighter and the 80s had a party attitude which I miss and
there seemed to more like a family the 80s did.
7. Favorite place to perform?
Anywhere in Japan! Domo Arigato don't bore
us get to the chorus! (Laughs)
8. What makes a good song?
Ahh well a simple chorus that anyone can hum
to.
9. What are your hobbies?
Yoga, reading, playing acoustic for hours on
end, talking to girls!
10. Favorite food to eat on the road?
Italian hands down!!
11. The first concert you ever went
to?
The Eagles day on the green 1976 . I've seen
all the great bands from the 70's.
12. Who's the best person you've met
on the road?
Bo Diddley and Joey Ramone
13. Any current projects?
Well Jetboy should be
writing soon, I'm always recording ideas and songs and jamming
with friends here in the SF bay area.
