Fernie Rod

Jetboy

Fernie Rod is currently the lead guitarist for Jetboy. Besides being a great guitarist he also handles some of the vocals.  He's a super nice guy! I had the chance to meet Fernie and the rest of the band back in the days of their first U.S. tour. They were a lot of fun. Fernie was my favorite! I had the pleasure of interviewing Fernie recently!

1. Any person (living or dead) that you would like to meet and why?

John Lennon, I know that may be cliche but its true, his music continues to influence me and inspire me. I love the man and what he believed in.

2. Who are some of your favorite musicians?

Oh man that's tuff. Lets See, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Joe Perry, OMG I could go on and on. (Laughs)

3. What's your guilty musical pleasure?

Hmmm Flamenco music! I love it and I can never get enough of it.

4. Who did you idolize as a child?

The Beatles!!! (Laughs) I know but again true.

5. Stranded on a deserted island, what 3 cds would you have with you?

Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt Peppers, Aerosmith rocks

6. The difference between today's music and the music of the 80's?

There was no pro tools back then, and we had more hair and the songs were corny but lovable and pants were tighter and the 80s had a party attitude which I miss and there seemed to more like a family the 80s did.

7. Favorite place to perform?

Anywhere in Japan! Domo Arigato don't bore us get to the chorus! (Laughs)

8. What makes a good song?

Ahh well a simple chorus that anyone can hum to.

9. What are your hobbies?

Yoga, reading, playing acoustic for hours on end, talking to girls!

10. Favorite food to eat on the road?

Italian hands down!!

11. The first concert you ever went to?

The Eagles day on the green 1976 . I've seen all the great bands from the 70's.

12. Who's the best person you've met on the road?

Bo Diddley and Joey Ramone

13. Any current projects?

Well Jetboy should be writing soon, I'm always recording ideas and songs and jamming with friends here in the SF bay area.
